Roseland Polo at King Family Vineyards in Crozet, Virginia (on Film)

One of the pros of dating someone who grew up in Charlottesville is that they will show you all of the fun things to do in the area. Sunday Polo at King Family Vineyards might be my favorite C’ville-related activity behind eating dumplings from Marco & Luca. The beautiful scenery, fantastic wine, and the overall atmosphere was truly a one-of-a-kind experience.

King Family Vineyard is nestled into the Blue Ridge Mountains in Crozet, Virginia. They are famous for their Crosé but every Sunday from May to October they bless the community with free to attend polo games on the gigantic polo field in their vineyard. Patrons come two hours before the games start at noon to set up canopies and settle in. Vineyard workers ride around on golf carts selling chilled bottles of wine. My favorites are Roseland and Lorelei.

As I sat watching polo, and realized I do not have an idea of the rules, I thought about how photogenic the sport is. I was glad I brought my Hasselblad 500 CM with me because I could not resist shooting a roll of expired Fujifilm at the event.
