Hello! I am Casey Lee

I am a Virginia-based photographer working in both analog and digital photography, making a point to create intentional, beautiful images since 2014.

Once I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography and Film in 2019, I worked contract-based jobs until I officially started my business, Casey Lee, LLC, in February 2020. Covid encouraged us to enjoy the people in our lives and be happy, which I was glad to encourage. I began photographing portrait sessions for individuals and families. As a result of the wedding industry changing course in 2020, my sister and I started a wedding photography business, The Cole Sisters.

I am currently pursuing a Master of Architecture at Clemson University. My work bridges the two fields of architecture and photography, using my background in environmental portraiture to highlight the dichotomy between natural and built environments. I explore this topic by traveling to various places to document how the relationship between the two varies depending on the context, scale, and culture. The images in this work are created using my Hasselblad 500 C/M on medium-format film. Since I purchased my camera in February of 2021, I have taken my Hasselblad to twenty countries and twelve states and shot through hundreds of rolls of film. I hope to continue this exploration by visiting new places each year!
