My First Super 8 Reel

a new camera has been added to the collection <3

It is no secret that I love film as a medium. From 35mm to 120 to 4 x 5, I appreciate cameras and the magical gifts they bring us. I have wanted to introduce myself to video film for a few years and finally took the plunge and bought my first Super 8 camera! This is a Canon Auto Zoom 814 - a camera initially introduced in March 1967. I often document candid moments as a photographer who focuses on genuine connections. The Super 8 is a perfect camera to match this energy as it gives the feeling of a home video as perfect focus and high resolution are not something to stress over. The simple camera has few functions, making the moments on film feel extra natural.

I tested the new (old) camera with my cousin’s family in Crozet, Virginia. After this beautiful morning on the farm, I brought it to a couple of weddings I photographed with The Cole Sisters. It fits in nicely with the Hasselblad and Nikons. I hope to be creating more Super 8 magic this year!
